SEATBELT FAILURE
Seatbelts are amongst the oldest safety features modern vehicles come equipped with. Although seatbelts have saved thousands of lives, there can be design, installation and manufacturing flaws that can lead to faulty seat belts, leaving you or your passengers vulnerable to avoidable injuries.
An occurrence known as ‘false latching’ can happen when your seatbelt may feel securely attached, though in reality it is not secured, leaving the vulnerability of the seatbelt become unfastened during a collision. This is called ‘false latching’ and automobile parts manufacturer Takata recalled more than 8 million vehicles for this issue. (link)
Seatbelts can also suffer from retractor failures which can cause the occupant to be ejected from their seat when the seat belt fails to lock and hold the occupant in place during a crash. Other defects, such as poorly mounted anchor systems, webbing defects causing seat belts to tear, and inertial unlatching also cause seatbelts to fail, risking deadly outcomes.
If you think you have experienced a seatbelt defect do not hesitate to reach out to MLG Attorneys at Law. You may be entitled to receive maximum monetary compensation for your medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, loss of enjoyment of life and other damages.
